For a security defender, prevention is not enough. "When you want to improve the speed of detection, the biggest hindrance is multiple solutions from different vendors with their integrations not probably the best in the world, reducing the speed of detection," Singh said. "The only way to do away was to move to a more integrated approach - aka XDR - which brings in a bit of automated analytics and detection engineering."

Winner of Information Security Media Group's Dynamic CISO Excellence Award in the Visionary CISO category, Singh deals with common problems such as alert fatigue, shortage of skills, bringing incident responders up to speed and more. His approach to addressing these issues is to have a vision and bring in solutions one at a time. Connecting all of the contexts together, he is able to achieve meaningful results across all environments.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at ISMG's Dynamic CISO Excellence Awards and Conference, Singh discusses:

  • Why he chose to adopt XDR for increased maturity and greater ROI;
  • The risks and challenges of integrating XDR into legacy infrastructure;
  • How XDR solves scalability and infrastructure visibility issues.

Singh, who leads cybersecurity and data protection initiatives at Birlasoft, has over two decades of experience in information security. Through XDR, he adopted a strategic approach to increasing ROI and the maturity of security investments.
