Security Streamlines Data Use, Boosting Organizational Efficiency

The easiest way to make data secure is to streamline how it gets from point A to point B, which makes the overall company operationally more efficient, says Troy Leach. He adds that CISOs don’t give themselves enough credit for how they free up resources on mundane security overhead as, when they can do that, they can reallocate those resources to innovative, exploratory ways of looking at risk and security.

In addition to brand reputation, saving legal fees and other ways to prevent negative impacts, cybersecurity aids business continuity; when things go wrong its often security regulatory compliance actinos that have to be tested that help sustain the success of the organization.

Ability to demonstrate security - ability to react, learn discover and demonstrate this competence - is also described as quite a competitive advantage when it comes to the procurement process, particularly with partners in heavily regulated industries business. And going forward it is expected that there will be a growing reliance on 3rd parties including cloud providers, so there will be a need to find third parties that prioritize security.

All trust starts with security says Leach, adding that the most interesting aspect is the result of that trust. He explains, when you are trusted, people will share more info with you, allowing customization and personalization of your offering, which in turn leads to greater customer satisfaction and retention.

Leach is the Security Executive in Residence for the non-profit, Cloud Security Alliance and sits on several advisory boards as an expert in information security and financial payments. Leach also founded a consulting practice that advises on the opportunities to leverage blockchain technology, zero trust methodology and various cloud services to create safe and trusted environments.
