Fortinet recently surveyed over 900 security professionals about cloud security challenges and approaches to securing the cloud, and Frederick Harris, senior director of product marketing at Fortinet, pointed out that one key finding was no big surprise: "Security and compliance continue to be a major roadblock to cloud adoption."

Of those surveyed, 96% said they were moderately to extremely concerned about cloud security. "What was surprising is that a combined 44% of respondents perceived a higher risk of security breaches from public clouds compared to traditional on-premises environments," Harris said.
