Fraud & Hacktivism

Why trust a former black hat? Hector Monsegur, a former member of LulzSec, discusses why his unique perspective is so valuable.

"Cybersecurity is a young industry that's starting to spread awareness and starting to really develop organizations' security postures," he says. "It's good that we have general awareness. Now it's time for implementing changes."

Monsegur was a keynote speaker at ISMG's New York City Fraud Summit. And he was followed to the stage by Ron Green, Mastercard's CSO, who spoke of the evolution of EMV and the need for the U.S. to transition from chip-and-signature to chip-and-PIN card security.

"It's been Mastercard's position that we should use chip and PIN," he says. "We're at that point where we should have a really good conversation about when we will get to chip and PIN."
