Fighting Malware: Why Speed Is More Important Than EverLastline's Patrick Bedwell on Malware-as-a-Service and Breach Trends
To stop malware, it helps to spot it as fast as possible and keep tabs on what it might be trying to do.
"We all know that a well-funded, patient, creative attacker - there's no way to keep them out," says Lastline's Patrick Bedwell. So organizations have an imperative to spot attacks - including malware and attackers' lateral movement and command-and-control communications - as quickly as possible and arrest them.
In a video interview at the recent Infosecurity Europe conference in London, Bedwell discusses:
- Prevention versus detection and reaction;
- How attackers laterally traverse networks;
- Malware-as-a-service trends;
- Enterprise-focused identity and intellectual property theft via credential stealing and stuffing.
Bedwell heads product marketing for Lastline. Previously, he's worked at organizations such as AlienVault, Fortinet and Arcot Systems.
