He formerly served as chief of staff of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, senior policy adviser to U.S. Senate leadership, managing director of the Chertoff Group, and general manager of risk management solutions at L-3 Communications. He teaches security studies at Georgetown University and is the author of “The Economics of Violence: How Behavioral Science Can Transform our View of Crime, Insurgency, and Terrorism.”
