One key step, he stresses, is using network segmentation as part of a stronger security infrastructure. “Once an attacker has gotten into a network, the flatter the network, the easier it is to traverse around the world,” he says.
In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Yapp discusses:
- The additional security challenges emerging during the COVID-19 crisis;
- How businesses can best protect their customers’ data and their systems;
- Why cutting corners is incompatible with building a strong security infrastructure.
Yapp is a partner at UK-based law firm Schillings, where he leads a cyber defense group. Formerly deputy director at the UK’s National Cyber Security Center, he specializes in providing cybersecurity incident advice to a broad range of organizations.
