Upon retirement from government service, Phillips started as executive director, Noname Security, responsible for creating and running a public sector LLC to provide API security to government agencies. Prior to this move, he served 23 years in the FBI. Most recently, he was assistant director, IT Infrastructure Division, responsible for the FBI's worldwide IT infrastructure, including networks, end user devices, data centers, credentialing and access management, operating systems, communications services, mobile technologies, customer experience, and the enterprise operations center.
