Focused on founding, advocating, and managing open source technology initiatives within the U.S. Government, for the past 15 years, Wells has worked in the information assurance space: As an NSA civilian, he was the senior developer of the Al-Qaeda Senior Leadership SIGINT database (AQSLDB), which ingested, exploited, and analyzed High Powered Cell Phone (HPCP) collections under S3; in industry, Wells partnered with Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Intelligence Community on the Centralized Super Computing Facility, which consolidated mission HPC environments onto a single cross-domain platform. In partnership with NSA's Information Assurance Directorate, NIST, and DISA, and he co-founded the OpenSCAP project which reduced the average security validation for Linux-based platforms from 10+ hours to a few minutes. Wells is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's CIO Institute and studied technical strategy and innovation at MIT Sloan, nuclear energy at Stanford, and is currently performing research on hyperscale computing at Harvard. He holds the CISSP, CISSP-ISSEP, CISSP-ISSAP, and CISSP-ISSMP credentials.
